Been using these for a while to kill transformer buzz (dc riding on the ac). Review to come.

Superscope c-105 cassette recorder
The prior sony tape advert reminded me of this gem. A family friend had the (c-104?).
SuperScope (sony?) c-105 cassette recorder. Warm fuzzies all around.

Headphones
Were going to have a headphone review (of sorts), I bought a Sony Mdr-1r. I have a Yamaha Yh-100 as a comparison (though it has issues). I also picked up a Akg k 511 but i don't like how they feel, Sound veiled.
I'll be putting up some "cans" ads.

Ps: If I were to spend $'s it would be Stax.

Freaking can’t find that damm disk..
It isn't a hard rule but after a friend wrecked a cartridge during some number of cocktails into an evening I don’t let myself play records after beer/wine.
Which brings me to my next point..
When I moved in I mostly just put cd's at
random into the shelf and now … I can’t find a freaking thing. The other day I really
wanted to listen to the cure singles..i wasn't even sure I had it on cd. Instead
it was thomas dolby. Yesterday I found the cure in seconds and now can’t find
where I put the dolby disk… crap.
I think I going to get this organized.

Transformer bees!
So this is bugging me (no pun). The last few nights I’ve
noticed the buzz is kind of loud. Which annoys me so I don’t feel like
listening.
Ps audio makes this little power gizmo with dc blocker. If I
can find one I’m going to buy..
Stupid bees.

System update...
This time assembly was over two days. Day one, staging positioning components and setting cables next to each. Day two, plug in and turn on. I found this much less taxing than doing it all in one day.
The 12' ft of Mit Mh750+ is out and 5m of naim naca5 is in.
Briefly I had the thiels close to the bed but I'll be fiddling with this for a bit, i'm not sure of the best position and i'm not in a symmetrical triangle with the speakers as the wall is too close. Going to try playing with pink noise and see if it helps with setup.
This last few weeks have been hot here. Given the AC will be kicking on at 4pm I've kept the system off precluding voltage spikes. Waiting for the cool weather of fall...

Streaming...
A relative who won't be named has a ginormous tv and high speed cable with streaming HD. For the second time that I can recall the following has occurred.
The Spider Woman (1944). Holmes & Watson by a steam in Scotland.
- We page through a steam punk folder menu for over 5 minutes to find some movie as it's way to difficult to use the search function.
- Finding a movie, we start to watch however we pause for pizza, booze, bathroom, chat about crap etc.
- 10, 20 minutes goes by and we hit play/un-pause to continue. The movie is frozen and we have to go back up two or more folders (this was on the prior system, AT&T) and not remembering where we found the movie we can't go back and re-start it. Or as in the other night, comcast "saves" the streaming film that's pauses after 10 minutes in a folder called "saved streaming movie" or such, however once in the folder we can't seem to get it started again. Back up two folders and again we don't know where we found it so we just say screw it and watch what he has recorded at the "top menu".
To me this seems like a big chunk of "epic fail". Yes bluray/SD players lockup or crash but you can get back to where you were...
I hope he's getting his money out of "beta testing" this crap.

Sony compact
Secretly I am fascinated by these. The are not HPA* and yet they exist.
Sony compact, Hst-49, Ps-212 turntable (full auto?), Ss-440 speakers.
* High performance audio.

...If this were heaven..
"...is this heaven?"
"If it were we'd be eating poptarts with Kim Novak..."
Rango.
If you haven't seen Rango (2011) your missing some fun silliness. Worth your time.
Unpacking is so much fun isn't it kids?
The cd case has been moved to the closet and now filled. I'm going to look into some Led lighting. A second small cd case is against the wall for "in heavy rotation" disks, the thiels will be just in front.
It's looking like maybe late Sept i'll unpack the naim as my second room,"the office" is in major transition. Lots of things need to be moved out and my crap in. The glass desk is likely to get 86'd and the arlon chair down to the computer room. Book cases need filing etc.

Pita
And here I was thinking this was going to be a piece of
cake. I’d just move the desk and slip the lowboy tv stand (pretty but no Naim
Fraim) next to the bed.
Last night I found I was unable to remove the desk from
the room no matter how I maneuvered it. Yes I rotated it..quite you!
Anyway I have moved the goalposts instead and the lowboy
will be on the other wall. Not exactly what I want but it should work. I expect the system to be up by mid September (given my work for an hour, beer, work for an hour constitution..).
Since I have moved from my prior site (beltdrive.wordpress.com),
here’s a recap.
main system.
Rega p3-24/tt-psu power supply, Sumiko blue point 2. Naim
Stageline N phono.
Naim nac-282/hicap DR, Naim Nap-250.2.
Naim Naca5 cables, Thiel cs2.3 speakers.
Second system. This is a work in progress, I only have the
Fisher.
Fisher x200 integrated (35w tubes). Not working and “on
blocks”, needs a complete rebuild, the “iron” (ps and output transformers) is
good.
Still thinking about the rest of it. B&o turntable or
speakers, Kef, Kenwood, Allison, Thorens, Gale, Sonab?
I'd like to go a little "out there" so the Sonab is of interest. What should I consider?

2014 cal audio show and....wait for it....Children????
A yup! Not a typo.
It was note worthy enought to see a guy with his 5-7 yo daughter!! wondering the halls, enough of an eye opener that I even called out something nice to them.
Then I saw at least one and possibly two other guys or families with two 5-9 yo boys also running around!
This actualy may be more important than any noise boxes at the show! I can't EVER!!! recall seeing something like that. Do you have ANY idea how important this is. These are the kids (some of them anyway) that will be thinking about audio in the future, "hey my dad was into this, bla bla bla"
You know as well as I that this is often where the bug starts. My dad was into cars...etc so now I'm a menace in a 69 camero..or my effete version, a 68 mercedes 250SE.
I'm really hoping this isn't a one off..
On a related note I know two people at work who have either stopped riding or sold their motorcycles now that they have children. I think this is a HUGE mistake both for the rider and their kids.
IMHO, the western world is fast becoming boring. If you choose to live a dull life your kids will too.
